The Department of Biodiversity Conservation and Attractions (Parks and Wildlife), is developing a Trails Masterplan for the Porongurup National Park. The Great Southern Regional Trails Master Plan outlined a number of opportunities for hiking and mountain biking within Porongurup National Park, enabling engaging experiences within the unique landscapes.
The Porongurup National Park Trail Masterplan will establish a vision for trails within the park, providing recommendations for upgrades to existing trails and new trail experiences.
DBCA have engaged Common Ground Trails to develop the Masterplan. We are currently in the early stages of gathering information to help build our understanding of the history of the Park and the current situation.
We would like to invite you to have your say and tell us what you think are the opportunities and constraints relating to existing and potential trail experiences within Porongurup National Park.
The project team invite you share your ideas for trails within Porongurup National Park through this mapping tool.
There are three elements to this survey
1. Trail Use Survey
This short survey will take about 7minutes and will tell us about you and how you currently use trails generally and within Porongurup National Park.
Provide your email at the end of the survey if you would like to be kept informed on the project.
2. Existing Trails
Click on existing mapped trails to complete a short survey on trail condition and experience
3. Trail opportunities and constraints
Add marker/s to the map to identify:
Please give as much information as possible when you place a marker. If there is already a marker on the map, you are able to add additional comment and information as well as like the trail or idea.
Please note the potential trails and facilities identified through this survey will not necessarily be constructed, but will inform where there is demand for trails. The information gathered will be used in assessing trail opportunities across Porongurup National Park.
The survey will close on the 1st December.
Community drop in information session
We would also like to invite you to attend a community open house drop-in information session to speak to us in person. The session will be held on Saturday the 20th November at the Porongurup Hall, you can come anytime between 1 and 5pm to have a chat with Common Ground Trails staff about the project.
Thank you for your contribution to the Porongurup National Park Masterplan.
